Sticky Rice

Sticky Rice is awesome

Ingredients

(1 part rice to 1.2 parts water)

  • 500ml sticky rice (glutenous rice)
  • 600ml water

Directions

The cooking time is ~25 minutes:

  • however long it takes to bil
  • 5 minutes
  • 10 minutes
  • 10 more minutes just sitting/steaming with burner off
  1. Rinse the rice until water runs clear
  2. Add rice and 600ml water to pot* Berit: we used the back/right burner
  3. Bring to boil, keep an eye on it – it will stick right away
  4. When it boild, reduce to “2” (almost lowest) setting.
  5. If boiling too much, remove from heat for a few seconds.
  6. Give the rice a good stir with a wooden spoon to make sure nothing is stuck to the bottom.
  7. Put lid on, Cook 5 minutes without checking.
  8. After 5 minutes, give it a quick stir again.
  9. Reduce to 1/lowest setting, quickly put lid back on. cook for 10 minutes.
  10. Do not check/open lid. Trust the process
  11. Turn heat off, leave on stove 10 minutes (5 minimum). do not open. Trust the process.
  12. Ready
